Dr. Ben Schultz

Dr. Schultz was born in Yorkton SK, and grew up in the small town of Landmark, MB.  Before attending veterinary college, he studied animal science at the University of Manitoba.  He spent his first year practicing in Stettler, and then founded Maverick Large Animal Veterinary Service in 2012.

Ben is also a founding partner of Momentum Equine Veterinary Specialists in Sherwood Park, AB, as well as a partner at Uncas Veterinary Clinic in Uncas Alberta.  He has a professional interest in cow/calf and small feedlot and backgrounding, and is keenly interested in the economics and sustainability of the beef production industry as a whole.  Ben is particularly interested in the application of new technology to address challenges facing rural veterinarians and their clients.

Dr. Schultz and his wife Jasmin have two lovely daughters, three-and-a-half horses, and a mean looking dog that isn't mean at all.  Ben spends his free time supporting the equestrian endeavors of his wife and daughters, building and repairing fences, welding, tinkering with old cars, and hanging out at Buffalo lake.

Dr. Colin Nicholas

Born and raised in Calgary, Colin developed a passion for cattle work when preparing his application for vet school. He quickly found that he loved being on farm much more than in an office doing paperwork. He completed his Zoology degree in 2014 and graduated with his Veterinary degree from the University of Calgary in 2018. Special interests include surgery, both cattle and horses, and necropsies. Family is close to his heart so in his free time you will often find him snowboarding in the mountains with his dad and brother. He has one dog who you will occasionally see wandering the clinic looking for belly rubs.

Dr. Molly Rainforth

Molly grew up on a grain farm east of Lacombe. She completed 3 years of an undergraduate degree in Animal Health before being accepted into vet school, and graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Having worked at Maverick for 2 years as a summer student, she didn't have to think twice about returning here to work full-time. Molly now lives in the Erskine area, and outside of work enjoys spending time with family, riding horses, hiking and travelling.

Robin Schade, RVT & Office Manager

Raised in rural north east Alberta, Robin’s interest in animals started early. She graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at N.A.I.T. in spring of 2007. Robin received the Alberta Association of Animal Health Technologists Graduating AHT of the Year that following fall. Her work as an AHT has led her to be employed with the SPCA, an equine veterinary clinic and a mixed animal clinic before starting with Maverick in 2012. These days Robin divides her time between the 3 assocated clinics; Maverick Large Animal, Uncas Vet Clinic and Momentum Equine. Outside of work she would spend all summer riding, camping and fishing. Robin likes to take at least one destination off her travel bucket list a year as well as taking time off to do some community volunteer work. She currently has three dogs, a bunch of horses and a barn yard of weird poultry and goats.

Born and raised in rural southeast Saskatchewan, Chantal comes from a farming background. She graduated from Lakeland College in Vermilion in 2013 and has been with the team since April of 2015. She took a brief break in 2017 to go back home to be closer to family but after not quite a year we happily welcomed her back. She still enjoys going back to Saskatchewan to help her family with harvest but Alberta has now become her home. She lives on an acreage down by Big Valley with her husband, their dogs and horses.

Ashley Keith, RVT

Ashley grew up on a ranch just north of Byemoor Alberta and now currently lives just outside of Erskine. She joined the Maverick team in May of 2017 as a student and returned to work here after she graduated from Olds College in 2018. In October 2021, Ashley received her certificate in Bovine Ultrasound for pregnancy detection which adds her to the crew of preg checkers here at Maverick! Outside of work Ashley can be found with her dogs; Penny and Luggy, riding her horses or helping her family out with their cattle.
